MY APPROACH
My commitment lies in creating a safe, supportive environment where young minds can flourish, empowering them to navigate life's challenges with resilience and optimism. Through a holistic approach, in partnership with families, I strive to inspire hope, promote self-discovery, and cultivate lasting positive change in the hearts and lives of those I support. I prioritize fostering a safe and comfortable environment through active listening, respect, trust, validation, and empathy. Meeting a client where they are and supporting through skill building and consultation with parents and school staff, as appropriate, can support the transfer of skills into various settings. If parents are seeking support around the IEP or 504 process, I offer consultation to ensure parents receive the assistance they need.
According to the American Psychological Association, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) involves efforts to change thinking patterns. These strategies might include: gaining a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of others, using problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations, and learning to develop a greater sense of confidence in one’s own abilities.
I use a combination of CBT, bibliotherapy, play therapy, mindfulness, and evidence-based interventions to support skill building and to help clients meet their short and long term goals.
